June's parents were good friends of my grandparents (Lovell and Mary Berridge) in Leicester England.  As a result June knew my father, Peter, well and when I announced that I was going to Montreal, my father put me in touch with June.  When I arrived in Montreal, June and Doug welcomed me to their house in Hudson with open arms and I became a regular visitor there on weekends.  It was my home away from home and I would go out to just "hang out" and occasionally to baby-sit.  I was immensely flattered when June asked me to be Cat's godmother.  Needless to say, when I moved west my  visits became somewhat spasmodic - the last time I saw June was in 2003 when I visited her with my daughter, Ginette.  However, we kept in touch by mail and phone calls.  June has been a great friend to me over the years and will be sorely missed.
