Condolence: My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Cap. I have many a memory of a big hug from Cap everytime I went to the Prescott Legion for an event with my parents, Rev. Gerry and Betty Ring. He figures prominently in my memories of the years my family spent in Prescott. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Condolence: THANK YOU ERIC DEVLIN for those very kind words about my UNCLE HOWARD. As the last surviving NEPHEW/NIECE of HOWARD's pre-deceased brother ARTHUR CHARLES, our family wishes to extend our most sincere condolences to the members of CAPs' LEGION/MILITARY FAMILY.. While we have lost a dear uncle we realize that you folks have lost a "comrade-in-arms' with whom you enjoyed close bonds over many hardships and many years. In many ways the ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRESCOTT BRANCH was CAP'S first family with whom he enjoyed the closest relationships and with whom he was most comfortable and most trusting. We know that his loss affects many of you deeply and our thoughts are with you, as yours are with us.

Condolence: I have known Cap Sayaeau since October 1945 when we both served with the Infantry Training Battalion in Peterborough Training Centre. He was with a fellow compatriot Reg McIlvenna from the same neck of the woods of Eastern Ontario. In Korea, Cap was LOB at the time in early September that I assumed command of No. 4 Platoon B Coy 2 RCR but in early October he returned to the sharp end and we renewed acquaintances once more. After Korea, we met again circe 1965 at a Legion Convention in Perth and then many times after that at various conventions of the District Legion. Cap was District G Legion Commander at one time. I last saw Cap several years ago in Prescott Legion and had a good chin with him.
Howard Sayeau was a stalwart good soldier and a firm resolute friend of both myself and my better nine-tenths. He will be missed. Memoriam eorum retinibimus m Lest We Forget
