Obituary for The Honourable Peter Ralph Adams
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of The Honourable Justice Peter Ralph Adams, Retired Judge of the Ontario Court of Justice, on January 22, 2024. Surrounded by his loving family, he entered heaven peacefully and will now live among the angels.
Peter was born in 1950 to the late Ralph and Eleanor Adams in Prescott, Ontario. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 50 years of marriage Yolanda (Newton) and their four children Jillian O’Connor (Andrew), Peter Christopher (Magdalena Bauer), Melissa and Daniel (Jennifer Howitt).
Peter married Yolanda on August 11, 1973, in Windsor, Ontario where they began to build a beautiful life and family together. Ultimately settling in Prescott, Ontario, Peter was primarily a defense attorney for 30 years in Prescott before being appointed to the Ontario Court of Justice in 2004 where he presided as a judge in both Cornwall and Brockville until his retirement.
Peter loved being outdoors in the summertime, determined to upkeep the beautiful and tranquil home he and Yolanda built for their family. He also loved vacationing on the east coast of both Canada and the United States in search of finding the best seafood. However, his favorite vacation was anywhere he and his family could be together, which usually involved a long car ride.
Peter leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Abigail, Emma, Lila, Violet and Cameron. Peter is also survived by his siblings Gregory, Anne Wade (Chris), Lee and numerous nieces and nephew. He is predeceased by his brother Michael and nephew Jaden.
Friends will be received at MacKay Funeral Home, 416 Dibble Street West, Prescott, on Monday, January 29, 2024, from 6 - 8p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St Mark Catholic Church, 160 Dibble Street, Prescott, at 11:00a.m. Donations to St. Mark Catholic Church (613-918-0143 P.O.
