Obituary for Robert Arthur Kimmerly

KIMMERLY, ROBERT (BOB)
Bob grew up in Clayton, New York where he attended and graduated from Clayton HIghschool. During his highschool summers he worked on the Clayton Thousand Islands tour boats. After graduating from highschool he bought his first business selling ice in Clayton and area. He enlisted in the United States Airforce and served four years as a radar operator. After his service he attended and graduated Cum Laude from Syracuse University with a degree in Accounting. After graduation he went to work for General Dynamics in Syracuse. General Dynamics then sent him to work for the Space Program in Huntsville Alabama. Next was Rochester New York and then Connecticut until 1968 at which time he moved his family to Ottawa to pursue a franchise opportunity with EK Williams. In the early 70’s Bob bought a road-building construction company, which he sold in 1980 to retire to Hill Island. There he spent many happy hours boating on the river and entertaining friends and family. In 1992 he bid for and successfully opened the Johnstown Duty Free Shop which he eventually sold and finally retired in 2001 and moved to Cape Coral Florida, then Syracuse and finally back to Prescott area . He enjoyed spending many happy afternoons at Dave and Cathy’s house., and Friday night dinners with his good friend Shirley.
Bob ‘s favourite pastime was family, golf and crossword puzzles. He was an avid golfer at the Prescott Golf course, where he was a member for many years.
He is survived by his highschool sweetheart and first wife Lauraine,. Daughter Lee and her husband Dr Doug Boyd , grandchildren Kimmerlee, D.J., Robyn, and great grandchildren Wyatt and Olivia. Son Robert (father of Lauren) his wife Renata, grandchildren Robert III his fiancée Laurel, Ryan (deceased), and Shannon. Daughter-in-law Benita (mother of Robert III), grandchildren Lauren(deceased), Dani (deceased), Calli and great grandchildren Quinton and Max. He is also survived by numerous Wickham nieces and nephews and their families.
Bob was predeceased by sister Beverley (Kimmerly) Wickham and brother-in-law Don Wickham of Rochester N.Y. , and wife P.J. of Prescott.
