Obituary for Marian Audrey Preston (Preston)

PRESTON, MARIAN AUDREY

It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Marian Audrey Preston, announces her passing on April 15, 2024, at the age of 98, at the Brockville General Hospital. 

Marian was born in Oxford Township on August 8, 1925 and lived the majority of her life in Prescott. Marian was ambitious and hardworking. She was office manager of Cleveland Container Canada Limited, later known as Domtar. She was president of the Prescott Chamber of Commerce in 1984. Marian flourished in a male-dominated era, paving the way for younger generations of women.

Marian was also a woman of many talents. She was a member of the Prescott Curling Club, where she was a skip for 30 years. She was a member of the Prescott Golf Club, having played well into her eighties. She was a skilled gardener and a phenomenal baker. She enjoyed singing, reading, dancing and spending time with her family and friends. 

She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Tighe (nee Preston) and Barbara Mills (nee Preston); nieces and nephews: Diane Jago (nee Tighe) (Phil), David Tighe, Mary Ellen Mills, Pat Tighe, Michael Mills (Tammy) and Nancy Mills-Mace (nee Mills) (Graeme); great nieces: Michelle Mills, Amy Mills (Emmanuel), Jackie Mills (James), Danny Mills (Morgan), and Michaela Mills; great-great nephew and nieces: Preston O'Brien, Avery Mills and Isla Mills-Perez. She will also be missed by her beloved friends. She was predeceased by her brother-in-laws: Michael Tighe and Gordon Mills; and her parents: John Wesley Preston and Ethel Preston (nee Todd). She was also predeceased by many treasured friends. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Brockville General Hospital for their care.

In honour of Marian's wishes, there will be no formal services.
