Obituary for Marco Slunder

SLUNDER, MARCO
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marco Slunder on February 5, 2021 in his 93rd year.
Marco was born in Masseris Italia on April 25th 1928 to Antonio and Giuseppina (Trinco). After WWII he went to work in the coal mines of Belgium before immigrating to Canada in 1953. Living in Montreal, he met and married Thérèse Blanchard and they raised their family in Ville LaSalle. Marco worked for many years as a machinist and upon retirement he relocated to the Blanchard ancestral home on Miscou Island, NB where he happily lived until age 91. An established and experienced gardener, Marco grew everything from fruit trees to flowers and he often traded vegetables and eggs for fresh fish and seafood. He was well-loved and respected and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Left to mourn are his children, Daniel (Bonita Doiron) of Prescott, ON, Carole (Andrew Ciastek) of St. Eugene, ON, and Nicole (Randy McElligott) of Ottawa, ON. His grandchildren Valerie, Stephen, Denis, Neil, Jennifer, and great-grandchildren, Heather, Logan, Niko, and Lincoln. He also leaves behind his siblings Mary, Rina, Tina, Marcel, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife Thérèse Blanchard, and his second wife Janet Ward as well as his brother Joe.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions no public visitation or service is possible at this time. Service and Interment to be held at a later date.
