Obituary for John Francis Phillip Patrick Hart

HART, JOHN FRANCIS PHILIP PATRICK
John Frances Philip Patrick Hart passed away at home on Friday Apr 3 at age 62, from an aneurysm. It was sudden and he had no discomfort. Andrew (son) and I were home at the time, and after fire, paramedics and police had dwindled, Margaret (daughter) and her boyfriend Andrew Carignan-Jackson (yes, that's very confusing, so we call him CJ) arrived and we were able to spend time with him before he left. Close friends Chris Ritchie and Georgina Angel helped us through the evening. John is predeceased by his mother Fran and father Bill Hart. He was the big brother to siblings he adored Cathy (Kent Hawkins), Cory (Darlene) and Karen (Jim McAllister), and their children- 7 nieces and nephews and even 2 great nieces and a great-nephew. He was the loving and supportive spouse of 37 years to Cheryl Robertson, son-in-law to Joyce and George Robertson, and brother-in-law to Laura Robertson. He was predeceased by George Apr 4, 2019. John left home in Cornwall, On and joined the Navy as an underwater weapons tech, and shortly after remustered to Musician. He played cello, piano and euphonium when he joined and was put on tuba and electric bass for the Band Branch. We met during his posting to the RCR Band in Gagetown. This is where it could be so easy to turn this into a novel naming the people he cared about, learned from and respected. We travelled the world playing music, and in 1990, Andrew's arrival turned us from a couple into a family, and the family grew with Margaret's arrival in 1993.
We left the military in 1994/5 and moved back to Ontario, buying the Cardinal KOA Kampground which we sold in 2006. We spent a couple summers touring Ontario and the Maritimes, visiting friends and relatives until John became a long-haul trucker, which he did until last October. He was incredibly honorable, ethical, honest and loyal man. He had an excellent sense of humour, and never missed a chance to derail a conversation-preferably with a salacious story-even better if it embarrassed me. He hated bugs, liars and most other drivers. He loved rum and coke, pecan pie, camping, euchre, playing bass, bar-b-ques, driving tractors, snow, watching movies and most of all, spending time with his family.
We want to sincerely thank all the organizers and attendees for the “Covid19 Drive-By-Wake”. It was a brilliant idea that allowed us to experience the support of our community at a painful time, while keeping everyone safe.
