Laushway, Alice Mary (nee Moss)

It is with great sadness that we announce that Alice passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Sunday, November 12th 2023 at the age of 85 years. Beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Laushway for 58 years. Alice was the dear mother of Jeffrey (Kathy), Karen and Kevin (Katherine) and loving grandmother of Ryan, Jack, Kristopher and Lauren Laushway. She is lovingly survived by her siblings Roger (Sharon), Pauline (late Frank), Lorraine (late Ron)(Stephen) and Helen(Grant). Alice was predeceased by her parents Rose and Victor Moss, sister Cecile (Bob) and brother Rene(late Toni)(Phyllis). She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Alice graduated from the University of Ottawa and took great pride in her long career as a Catholic Educator. She enjoyed teaching her many students through the years. Alice generously gave back to her community by volunteering at The St. Mark Breakfast Program, St. Vincent de Paul Adult Day Care, the Catholic Women’s League Executive and catering; many wedding, funeral and parish functions. Alice belonged to the Retired Teachers of Ontario, Walker House and the Red Hat Society. Alice was an energetic lady who lived a very active and healthy lifestyle. She enjoyed going to the gym, walking her dog Teddy, camping and square dancing with Bob.
Alice was a very creative and talented individual who spent her spare time knitting, crocheting, tole painting, sewing, baking, reading, playing cards, smocking, creating stained glass artwork, Swedish Weaving and Hardanger embroidery. She was always learning something new and there wasn’t anything that Alice wouldn’t try to do!

Friends and family may call at MacKay Funeral Home, 416 Dibble St West, Prescott, Ontario on Monday, November 20th, 2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 160 Dibble St West, Prescott, Ontario K0E 1T0 on Tuesday, November 21st, 2023 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Development Drive, Prescott, Ontario. Alice will be sadly missed by many!
