Obituary for Jon Hamilton Fee

FEE, JON 56

A passionate coach, science teacher and world traveller, Jon Fee of Prescott died of cancer at age 56 at home on Sept. 15, 2014, while holding his wife Christine Endicott’s hand and surrounded by his daughters Kellyanne and Johanna.

During his career, Jon taught thousands of students at South Grenville District High School and earlier at BCI and Rothwell-Osnabruck School. He coached aspiring athletes in high school volleyball, soccer and hockey and Prescott District Soccer Association soccer. He relaxed by playing folk music on his guitar.

Jon had travelled to more than 25 countries, many of them during a world bicycle tour with Christine. Originally from Manotick, he was a quick and agile hockey player in his high school days, winning the all-Ontario hockey championship with the South Carleton team. Jon earned his Bachelor of Science at University of Guelph and his teaching certificate at University of Calgary.

He is survived by his wife Christine, his daughters Kellyanne, 19, and Johanna, 17, his sisters Holley (Ron) and Teena (Gerry), his brothers Karl (Evelyn) and Brett (Sandra), and a loving extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Eileen Hamilton Fee, and his father, William Fee.

The celebration of Jon’s life will be an Irish-style wake, to be held at O’Heaphy’s Pub, 101 King St. W., Prescott, on Thursday, Sept. 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Please bring your guitar if you’d like to strum a tune.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a new South Grenville District High School Jon Fee Science Bursary to be given to a graduating student each year. SGDHS, 1000 Edward St., Box 670, Prescott ON K0E 1T0.
